Website visit
When you visit this website, technically necessary access data is processed, including your IP address, request time, requested URL, referrer and user agent. This data is used to deliver the website, operate it securely, investigate errors and prevent abuse. The application does not maintain its own visitor database.
Technical requests support delivery and error analysis. Where personal data is processed in this context, the legal basis is the legitimate interest in a functional and secure service pursuant to Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO.
Hosting
The Software Architecture Atlas runs at software-architecture-atlas.meierhoff-systems.de on infrastructure operated by Meierhoff Systems. The server infrastructure is provided by IONOS. IONOS may process technical access data and IP addresses as part of hosting, network operations, security and maintenance.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and, where applicable, a data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR.
Search and interactive examples
The building-block search runs entirely in your browser. Search terms and filters appear as URL parameters. When a search URL is opened or changes, these parameters may also be sent to the usage analytics described below. When a search URL is opened directly, the web server receives it like any other page request, and it may be stored in browser history and, depending on server configuration, in technical logs.
The learning examples keep their state in browser memory while you use them. To show where you left off, the atlas uses your browser’s localStorage to remember which building blocks you have viewed and the most recent one. This progress data stays in your browser and is not sent to a server. You can reset it on the Discover page or delete it in your browser settings. The atlas does not set its own cookies.
Fonts, images and usage analysis
Fonts, images and the animation library are served with the application. For usage analytics, we load Rybbit from stats.meierhoff-systems.de, an instance operated by Meierhoff Systems. Analytics records pageviews including URL parameters, internal navigation, outbound link clicks and button clicks. This helps us understand which content is used and improve the site. Session replay, form tracking and copy tracking are disabled.
Contact by email
When you contact us by email, your email address and the content of your message are used to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO; for contract-related enquiries, Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO applies.
Messages are retained for as long as necessary to handle the enquiry or to meet statutory retention obligations.
External links
Links to references, LinkedIn and other projects open services operated by third parties. Their privacy notices apply when you visit them. Recipients of personal data may include technical service providers for hosting, operations, maintenance, security and handling your email. The atlas does not intend to transfer personal data to third countries.
Retention
Server logs are retained only for as long as necessary for operations, security, error analysis and abuse prevention. Reading progress remains in your browser’s local storage until you reset it on the Explore page or delete it through your browser settings. Interactive example states are held only in memory.
Automated decisions
This website does not carry out automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
Your rights
Subject to the GDPR, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation.
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example with the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
